Machu Picchu to Arequipa

After exploring the breathtaking Andean scenery, make your way to the magical ‘white city’ of Arequipa. This remarkable journey continues to Arequipa and the Colca Canyon.

Arrival in Cusco & Trip to Pisac

  • Upon your arrival at the Cusco airport, a Travel Experts Peru representative will meet you for the drive to the Sacred Valley.
  • You’ll have a stop in Pisac to explore the ruins and historic Pisac market.
  • Take the evening to enjoy your lodge, the landscape, and amazing regional cuisine.

Sacred Valley & Train
to Aguas Calientes

  • You’ll have the morning to relax and explore on your own – take this time to visit the town of Urubamba, Chinchero, or partake in one of our additional excursions.
  • In the afternoon you will take a train to Machu Picchu, the hidden Inca citadel. This hour-and-a-half to two-hour train journey is one of the most scenic in the world, winding through mountain, river valleys, high jungle and mystical cloud forests. Upon arrival in Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu, you will be met at the train station and accompanied to your hotel.
  • Your guide will provide details on the meeting time, place, and items to bring for your following day at Machu Picchu.

Explore Machu Picchu

  • Early the following morning, you’ll head over to the bus stop, where you’ll meet your guide and head to the entrance of Machu Picchu.
  • Upon arrival, you’ll head into Machu Picchu with your guide and explore the site’s key landmarks, such as the Intihuatana (Sun Stone), the Sun Temple, and the Room of 3 Windows. Additionally, you’ll be treated to the awe-inspiring mountain range that enigmatically embrace the ruins. In the early afternoon, we recommend you head back to Aguas Calientes to have lunch and pick up any luggage before taking your late-afternoon train back to Cusco.
  • When you arrive in Cusco, you’ll have a driver waiting for you to transport you to your hotel.

Day in Cusco

  • You’ll have the day to yourselves to relax after your late arrival.
  • Take the day to explore the Plaza de Armas, mercado San Pedro, and walk the cobble-stone streets of the city.
  • If you’re up for more activity, we can schedule a city tour where you’ll visit the main cathedral, Sacsayhuaman, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay ruins.
  • Evening to explore the amazing restaurants and nightlife in the city.

Cusco to Arequipa

  • After breakfast, you’ll be picked up and transferred to the airport for your flight to Arequipa.
  • Upon your arrival, you’ll be met and transferred to your comfortable hotel.
  • In the afternoon, you’ll take a tour of the iconic sites in the white city.

Arequipa to Colca Canyon

  • After breakfast, you’ll have an early morning pick-up to head out towards the town of Chivay.
  • This drive will take you through the scenic landcapes of Salidas and the Aguada Blanca National Reserve.
  • In Chivay you’ll explore the historic square and stop for lunch (not included) and then head over to the Calera hot springs where you can take a dip in the natural baths.
  • In the late afternoon you’ll be taken to your Colca Canyon hotel.

Colca Canyon

  • Early in the morning you’ll be met by your guide and taken to the Mirador Cruz del Condor – this is one of the most stunning views of the canyon and a great location to see the soaring condors flying through the canyon.
  • As you travel back to Arequipa you’ll stop in the town of Chivay prior to returning to Arequipa.
  • Upon arrival to Arequipa, you’ll be transferred to your hotel.
  • Take the evening to explore the beautiful city of Arequipa, it’s amazing plaza and local cuisine.

Arequipa Departure

  • Enjoy breakfast at your hotel prior to being picked up and transferred to Arequipa’s airport for your flight back to Lima.
  • Safe travels back home.

  • Accommodations: 1 night in the Sacred Valley, 1 night in Aguas Calientes, 2 nights in Cusco, 2 nights in Arequipa, and 1 night in the Colca Canyon.
